In this regard, the social media giant Facebook has introduced a new way to prevent the spreading of such contents on Facebook. The company, on Wednesday, said that “by using the new artificial intelligence image matching technologies, the same image will be prevented from being posted on Instagram or Facebook messenger after a pic is reported and deleted.”

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and founder of Facebook, said on his Facebook page that “It’s wrong and hurtful, sharing intimate photos of individuals as a means of slander, and if you report it to us, by using the new artificial image recognition technique, we’ll stop it from being spread across all the platforms.”

The new tool is introduced to prevent a new and maleficent form of harassment, mainly targeted at Women. Later it led to a congressional level hearing and investigation from the department of defense.

In the past, the company has been sued by some victims of revenge porn, who accused it of not taking appropriate actions in order to prevent spread of their intimate images.
